802.11 enhancements

Ilango Purushothaman (ilangop@u.washington.edu) is working on 802.11 cleanup and beaconing extensions to the current code. A report describing it is available here.

Here is a patch against the ns-2.31 release: patchfile

We are maintaining this code in a branch named "i80211" of the sourceforge CVS repository: 

cvs co -b i80211 ns-2

Future plans:

  • incorporate above patch into next ns-2 release
  • active scanning
  • inter-AP communication
  • authentication frames

That should do ~90% of infrastructure mode. (we are not working on multi-channel).
