Updating Ns Allinone

From Nsnam

Many ns users use the allinone package to install ns. That package installs the latest releases of ns-2, nam-1, tclcl, otcl, etc. However, some users may want to use allinone to install all of the other software packages but update the ns-2 to the daily snapshot.

Here are some instructions for how to do this with ns-allinone-2.29, courtesy of Kamal Gakhar:

Steps:

  1. Download ns2 snapshot that you want (better the latest as it provides better functioning of 802.11e and I verified these steps only for snapshot-14 for e.g there were some additional steps to be done when I tried it with ns-2.28 and snapshot-10 of Lacage's work).
  2. Replace ns-2.29 from original ns2 download with ns2 snapshot directory (better rename it to ns-2.29)
  3. Change to be made to "configure" file in newly replaced ns-2.29 directory
    1. Change version numbers for variables mainly: TCL_VERS, TK_VERS ( and similarly for tclcl and otcl and "if needed on gsl" though I did not need to). These variables can be easily located with "Find" in an editor (because "configure" is a cumbersome file). (With latest snapshot TCL_VERS
